Boat trip on the Tambopata river to the Tambopata Nature Reserve. In the middle of the primeval forest, which preserves the original conditions with its animal and plant world, you can experience unadulterated nature.
Jungle AdventureStart: daily Day 1: Arrive in Puerto Maldonado and Explorer’s InnReception at the airport in Puerto Maldonado, boat trip on the Tambopata to the lodge. On the trip we can see turtles, caimans and waterfowl. After about 3 hours we arrive at the lodge. We are now deep inside the rainforest and surrounded by its sounds. After a little rest, we take a short trip to a small lake and return in time to enjoy the sunset in the jungle. For a short night trip we board the boats again to observe caimans by the light of the flashlights on the riverbank. Upon return, we have dinner and the guides (scientists who live temporarily at the lodge) are available to answer questions and provide information about the Amazon rainforest. Day 2: Lake CococochaAfter breakfast we make our way, accompanied by a guide, to the meander of Lake Cocococha, about 5 km away. On the way we see exotic plants, insects, colorful butterflies, birds, monkeys and if we are lucky, maybe some large mammals. We take the boats a little into the lake to observe the life of the wild animals on its shores from there. We return to the lodge for a slightly late lunch. The afternoon is free for relaxation or individual activities. Day 3: Puerto MaldonadoWe get up early and have breakfast. Already on the way back to Puerto Maldonado we can experience an unforgettable sunrise on the Tambopata. Transfer to the airport for the return flight. Day 2: Boat trip on the TambopataAt daybreak we board the boats for a 5 to 6 hour cruise up the Tambopata river into the intact jungle where we can observe the exuberant life of the wilderness. We pass waterfalls, beautiful sandy beaches with swimming opportunities, basalt rock formations and some gold panning spots. We have a small snack in the boat. In the late afternoon we reach the «Colpa de Guacamayos», a 200 m high cliff of red earth, where, for reasons still unknown, hundreds of Guacamayos and other species of parrots gather every morning and evening to feed on the mineral-rich earth. An unforgettable impression of sounds and colors! We camp on a nearby beach. Day 3: Clay Lick (Colpa)Early in the morning we observe the hustle and bustle on the Colpa. Then return to the lodge. If the water level allows, we make a small detour to a clay lick on a tributary. Day 4: Lake CococochaAfter breakfast we make our way, accompanied by a guide, to the meander of Lake Cocococha, about 5 km away.
