Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge


Program 1

6 days / 5 nights

Day 1: from Iquitos to Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge

• Reception at Iquitos airport or hotel pick-up.

• Ride along the country road to the town of Nauta, the first settlement founded by the Spaniards on the banks of the Marañón river. The journey on the 97 km long, completely paved route takes about 1½ hours.

• Visit to «Sapi Sapi» lake in Nauta.

• Continuation in the boat.

• Welcome to the Kukama Kukamiria style lodge, the original people of this area.

• Lunch.

• In the afternoon exploring the area around the lodge and observing the animals and plants.

• Dinner.

• Night hike to look for poison dart frogs (Dendrobatidae).

• Overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

• Look out for pink and gray dolphins.

• Breakfast.

• Ride to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Hike to get to know the flooded jungle.

• Lunch.

• Visit to the «Centro Artesanal de Mujeres» in the village of «San Jorge».

• Return to the lodge.

• Dinner.

• Myths and legends of the Amazon.

• Overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Ride to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

• Breakfast.

• Visit to the village of «20 de Enero».

• Climbing the water palm tree (Palmera de aguaje).

• Fishing.

• Boat trip.

• Box lunch.

• Arrive at camp and set up tents.

• Dinner at the camp.

• Night boat trip to listen to the sounds of the night and observe the night life.

Day 4: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

• Breakfast.

• Hike through the forest to observe flora and fauna.

• Lunch.

• Hike through the forest to observe flora and fauna.

• Dinner and overnight in tent camp.

Day 5: Pacayav Samiria National Reserve

• Breakfast.

• Hike through the forest to observe flora and fauna.

• Boat trip in black water.

• Swimming in the Yanayacu river.

• Lunch.

• In the afternoon return to the lodge.

• Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: from the lodge to Iquitos

• Breakfast.

• Quiet walk to the «Fundo Casual». Huge trees can be seen here.

• Lunch.

• Return to Iquitos.

• Transfer to airport or hotel in Iquitos.

Day 1: from Iquitos to Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge

Day 2: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

• Breakfast.

• Exploration of the area around the lodge and observe the animals and plants.

• Lunch.

• Ride to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Nauta Caño. Pink and gray dolphins can certainly be seen. Hike to get to know the flooded jungle.

• Return to the lodge.

• Dinner.

• Overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

• Breakfast.

• Visit to the village of «San Jorge» to learn about the way of life and ancestral customs of the residents.

• Visit to the «Centro Artesanal de Mujeres» in the village of «San Jorge».

• Lunch.

• Boat trip on the Marañón to «Cocha Shiriyacu».

• Visit to the village «20 de Enero» and climbing the water palm (Palmera de aguaje).

• Fishing with rods and traps, techniques used by the river community.

• Dinner.

• Overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

• Checking the fish traps set the day before.

• Breakfast with the result of the fishing.

• Bird watching on the river bank and in the forest.

• Lunch.

• Visiting the tent camp in the primary jungle of the Cocha Shiriyacu.

• Instruction on orientation and survival techniques in the jungle.

• Night hike to observe nocturnal mammals and to listen to the sounds of the jungle at night.

• Overnight in tent camp.

Day 5: from the lodge to Iquitos

• Return to the lodge.

• Breakfast.

• Morning free to relax or observe the surroundings.

• Lunch.

• Return to Iquitos.

• Transfer to airport or hotel in Iquitos.

4 days / 3 nights

Day 1: from Iquitos to the Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge

• Reception at the airport in Iquitos or pick-up from the hotel.

• Drive on the country road to the town of Nauta, the first settlement founded by the Spaniards on the banks of the Marañón river. The journey on the 97 km long, completely asphalted route takes about 1½ hours.

• In Nauta, visit the lake «Sapi Sapi».

• Continuación by boat.

• Lunch by boat.

• Visit the «Fundo Casual». There are enormous trees to see here.

• Welcome to the lodge in the style of the Kukama Kukamiria to absorb the energy and power of nature.

• Dinner.

• Myths and legends of the Amazon region.

• TSETSU viewpoint.

• Overnight stay in the lodge.

Day 2: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

• Breakfast.

• Explorzation of the area around the lodge and observation of the animals and plants.

• Lunch.

• Trip to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Nauta Caño. Pink and grey dolphins can be seen for sure. Hike to get to know the flooded jungle.

• Return to the lodge.

• Dinner.

• Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

• Breakfast.

• Visit to the town of «San Jorge» to learn about the way of life and ancestral customs of the inhabitants.

• Visit to the «Centro Artesanal de Mujeres» in the village of San Jorge.

• Lunch.

• Boat trip on the Marañón river to the «Cocha Shiriyacu».

• Visit to the village of «20 de Enero» and climb the water palm (Palmera de aguaje).

• Fishing with poles and traps, the techniques of the people living along the river.

• Dinner.

• Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4: From the lodge to Iquitos

• Breakfast with the results of the catch.

• Observing birds on the river bank and in the forest.

• Lunch.

• Return to Iquitos.

• Transfer to the airport or hotel in Iquitos.
