• Reception at Iquitos airport. Drive to the port, passing the most interesting places in Iquitos and short explanations. Visit of the most important colonial sites of the city and brief description. Boat trip on the Amazon. Our adventure begins.
• Visit to an indigenous Bora village to learn about the peculiarities of their life, customs and handicrafts.
• A large number of Amazonian butterflies can be admired in Pilpintuwasi.
• In the Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge, all rooms are protected with fly screens and have private toilets. Petroleum lamps illuminate the night. The hostel is set in a tropical garden full of flowering trees and other plants that attract birds and butterflies. It is built in the local style.
• Eco-cultural hike, on foot or by boat depending on the water level, to the indigenous Yaguas settlement, one of the oldest settlements in the Amazon. You can observe how they have adapted to the conditions of the jungle and modern life. The Yaguas still speak their own language.
• Continuation of the excursion around the hostel where you can get to know different plants of the area, including different orchids. A local guide explains the plants and their importance for medicinal, food or industrial purposes. Visit to a fish farm and observe how juice is extracted from sugar cane in a rudimentary way.
• Night hike, on foot or by boat depending on the water level, to enjoy the natural symphony of the jungle at night. Return to the lodge.
• Dinner.
• After dinner the guide will tell stories and legends of amazonian mythology. Tourists have an opportunity to try some local musical instruments.
• Overnight stay.
• Ride in an open boat on the Amazon and explore the reserve of the original jungle in the ecosystem of the Yanayacu to admire the Victoria Regia, which reaches a diameter of up to 1,80 m. From the settlement of Huachaldo we start a 30-minute walk followed by a 30-minute boat ride down the Yanayacu. We cross the «realm of the giant trees» where such large tree species as the lupuna predominate. This area is famous for the abundance of lowland jungle wildlife, variety of plants, insects and butterflies that can be seen from the trail.
• Visit to «Shansho Cocha» lake. This is where principally the Hoatzin live. These birds are also known as «shanshos» because of their peculiar sounds. They are very primitive birds that feed on leaves.
• The Tambo Yanayacu Lodge is built in the style of the local people on the sandbanks of the Yanayacu.
Lunch.
• Fishing for pirañas and other fish with the locals' simple fishing rods to learn about the way of life and conditions.
• Back to the hostel.
Dinner.
• Discussion of the day's experiences with the guide.
• Overnight stay.
• Very early in the morning guided hike on the Yanayacu for bird watching.
• Breakfast.
• Hike to the lake Yagua Cocha and its surroundings. Walk through the dense lowland jungle to observe the variety of fauna and flora.
• Back to the hostel.
• Lunch.
• Visit to an indigenous settlement to learn about their habits and lifestyle.
• Back to the hostel.
• Dinner.
• Entertainment by the guide with stories from the Amazon people.
• Overnight stay.
• Breakfast.
• Boat trip to Iquitos via the Amazon river.
• Getting to the airport.
The itinerary of the programs can be changed according to the preferences of the travellers, as well as for climatic or organizational reasons.
Due to the proximity to the equator, the conditions of the tropical rainforest remain the same all year round: very warm and heavy rains possible at any time. Due to the rainy season in the Andes, the water level is higher in the months from January to May.
