Ceiba Tops, Explorama's newest hostel, opened in 2000, is located 40 km from Iquitos on the banks of the Amazon river. It is the most luxurious accommodation in the area with air-conditioned rooms, including private toilets and showers with hot and cold running water, surrounded by pretty tropical gardens. Program 1
2 days / 1 night
• Reception at the airport (or hotel pick-up).
• Brief orientation in Iquitos on the way to the Explorama ship dock.
• A 40 km boat trip down the Amazon to the lodge Ceiba Tops. The bungalows with air conditioning, private toilet and running hot and cold water offer the usual home comforts in the middle of the rainforest.
• In the afternoon hike in the primary jungle of the area with huge trees like the immense ceiba that gave the lodge its name.
• After dinner you can listen to local music in the bar or chat with the guides who are always ready to tell you about the Amazon and its mysticism.
• Overnight at Ceiba Tops.
• Lunch, dinner.
• Those wishing to observe birds in their natural environment can do so very early in the morning near the accommodation.
• After breakfast excursion by boat to spot different species of river dolphins, gray and pink.
• Visit to a Yaguas Indian settlement where the guide will provide information about their culture. Opportunity to learn about local handicrafts and the use of the blowpipe.
• In the afternoon return to Iquitos and transfer to airport or hotel.
• Breakfast lunch.

• As program 1.
• Those wishing to observe birds in their natural environment can do so very early in the morning near the accommodation.
• After breakfast excursion by boat to spot different species of river dolphins, gray and pink.
• Visit to a Yaguas Indian settlement where the guide will provide information about their culture. Opportunity to learn about local handicrafts and the use of the blowpipe.
• In the afternoon visit to the village of Indiana on the banks of the Amazon and, if weather permitting, watch the sunset on the Amazon.
• Overnight at Ceiba Tops.
• Breakfast Lunch, Dinner.
• Excursion on foot or by boat to discover more of the Amazon jungle or free time to enjoy the hostel's facilities.
• In the afternoon return to Iquitos and transfer to airport or hotel.

Program 3
4 days / 3 nights
• As program 1.
• Same as day 2 of program 2.
• Early morning boat ride from Ceiba Tops to ExplorNapo Lodge.
• Breakfast.
• Walk to the treetop suspension bridges for a unique experience. They extend over a total length of 500 m, reach a height of 35 m and offer a completely different and privileged view to observe the surrounding nature with birds, mammals, reptiles and insects that do not walk on the earth in their entire life and therefore below cannot be observed. Walking the suspension bridges is possible for everyone, it does not require any special equipment and no special skills. Suspended from 14 of the tallest trees in the ExplorNapo Nature Reserve, the bridges form the longest system of its kind in the world.
• After lunch visit to the «ReNuPeRu» ethnobotanical garden near ExplorNapo, run by a local Shaman. In this garden, many medicinal plants are shown, which are already used in contemporary medicine and others that may become famous in the future.
• Return by boat to Ceiba Tops.
• Overnight at Ceiba Tops.

Program 4
5 days / 4 nights

• Early morning bird watching.
• After breakfast, cruise downstream to Explorama Lodge.
• Walking the «Bushmaster Trail», where scientists from the «Missouri Botanical Gardens» found the highest biodiversity per square acre.
• Excursion to a Yaguas Indian settlement, where there is an opportunity to learn about local handicrafts and the use of the blowgun, which is still used today by some Yaguas Indians for hunting.
• Hike along a path parallel to the Amazon to visit a riverside resident's house and see an artisanal mill with a rustic alembic for the production of sugar cane liquor.
• Overnight at Ceiba Tops.
• Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
• Early morning bird watching.
• Excursion to «Isla de los Monos» (Monkey Island), a private reserve where several species of tropical monkeys are protected.
• In the afternoon, boat trip in search of sloths and to observe pink and gray dolphins in the Amazon.

The itinerary of the programs can be modified according to the preferences of the travellers, as well as for climatic or organizational reasons.
Best time to travel: due to its proximity to the equator, the conditions of the tropical rainforest remain the same all year round: very warm and heavy rainfall possible at any time. Due to the rainy season in the Andes, the water level is higher in the months from January to May.
