Due to the proximity to the equator, the conditions of the tropical rainforest remain the same all year round: very warm and heavy rains possible at any time. Due to the rainy season in the Andes, the water level is higher in the months from January to May.
Across the Napo river, 160 km from Iquitos, is ExplorNapo, the gateway to the Sucusari Nature Reserve and access to the treetop suspension bridges. This adventure gives the possibility of a natural and ecological life in typical dwellings covered with palm leaves. A wonderful rainforest journey with excursions into primary forest in a region that scientists have dubbed the «Biodiversity Capital of the World».
Ceiba Tops, Explorama's newest hostel, opened in 2000, is located 40 km from Iquitos on the banks of the Amazon. With air-conditioned rooms, including private toilet and showers with hot and cold running water, surrounded by pretty tropical gardens, it is the most luxurious accommodation in the area. There is also a swimming pool, a water slide, hydromassage, a lounge with hammocks and the Esmeralda lounge for welcoming guests. A perfect place to enjoy the jungle! Explore the myths, mysteries and magic of the world's most exotic jungle!
Surrounded by primary jungle, the Explorama Lodge, built in 1964, is located 80 km from Iquitos downstream on the banks of the Amazon. Its wooden construction, covered with palm leaves, blends harmoniously into the surrounding nature. Not only the rooms are romantically illuminated at night, but also the corridors, the bar La Tahuampa, the hammock hall and the platform. Showers and shared toilets are nearby. Various hikes can be undertaken to explore the area, e.g. on the path of the seven bridges.
