Manu is the biggest National Park of Peru covering 1'532,806 ha. It is located partially in the department of Cusco and Madre de Dios. Due to the different altitudes from 4000 m to 200 m it has almost all subtropical ecosystems of Eastern Peru and it protects a big variety of plants and animals. More then 800 types of birds and 200 types of mammals inhabit the National Park like river otters, many species of primates, felines, reptiles, amphibians and insects. Manu also shelters many indigenous communities who have lived in harmony with nature for thousands of years such as the Machiguengas, Yoras, Mashcopiros and Amahuacas.
