Iquitos
Iquitos, the biggest city of the Peruvian Amazon region is located in the middle of the most extend jungle territory of the world beside the mouth of the Napo river. As there are no streets connections to Iquitos it is necessary to take the plane or boat. The weather is humid and warm, the temperature varies between 17 and 36
șC and it has an air humidity of 84%.
Iquitos' foundation was in 1757. The rubber fever gave the city a powerful rise in 1880. There are still splenderous buildings of this time.
The city of Iquitos is the starting point for excursions in the jungle. There is a big variety of trips: enjoying nature with all comfort or with simple accomodations, near the city or deep inside the exsuberant rainforest reaching the National Reserve of Pacaya-Samiria. It is even possible to take a walk at the altitude of the top of the trees.
