Cordillera Blanca, Huaraz

One of the most beautiful landscapes of the Peruvian highland belongs to the mountain chain of «Cordillera Blanca». It is often compared to the Swiss Alpes and is known as «the Peruvian Switzerland». Here are located the most famous peaks in Perú, like Huascaran, the highest mountain, Alpamayo, worldwide admired by its beauty, the Huandoy peaks, Chacraraju, Chopicalqui, Pisco, Taulliraju and more. Actually a paradise for climbers and trekking lovers.

Between Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Negra lies the Callejón de Huaylas. Huaraz is located in this valley and as the main city of the region it is many times the starting point for the trips. On the west side of the Cordillera Blanca lies the Callejón de Conchucos, that is very attractive for many visitors.

Hauraz has beyond its very beautiful natural destinations an archeological treasure left by an antique culture before the time of the Incas. The ruins of Chavín de Huantar show some expressions of this culture.
